Well this end of 2010 is pretty rich in the fields of the Digital Identity Certification market, and that’s great news for having an amazing Merry Christmas…

We’ll come back to you really soon, with great news about MyID.is Certified and our achievements with our global digital ID certification solution.
We’ve been working really hard since April 2007 to build our solution as strong as any government provided solution in the world and to allow our users in 37 countries to prove online “They are who they say they are”.
It’s not an easy task but we have so much trust in the future of Digital ID certification and the amazing amount of new usage that can be created around the tools we’re providing for free, that we feel like paladins in crusade times.

But we’ll get back to MyID.is Certified in times.

In the mean time, Dick Hardt who inspired me with his Identity 2.0′s presentation in 2005 and actually who played a big role in the vision we have at MyID.is Certified regarding the amazing role a third party true identity provider can do in the future for Internet and the Web of Trust.
Dick Hardt made a new presentation at the last OpenID Foundation board meeting a few days ago. And he simply explained what’s the benefits of having a user-centric platform when it come to identity platform, and why we took this path:

“OpenID Connect is not a user-centric architecture. It is a useful identity service, but it does not enable an identity network that could be a generative platform for new kinds of digital identity claims to be created and consumed. This is why user-centric identity is important — it enables us to create an identity platform instead of an identity service.”

We also have a new competitor that arrived on the market end of October, it’s the first time we have a real direct competitor with obviously the same ambition as us.

No, I’m not talking about the Open Identity Exchange (OIX) foundation because they follow our path from really far away… No I’m talking about miiCard that enable a pure online validation that “you are who you say you are”…

What’s a miiCard:
“miiCard is a unique way to prove your identity online, instantly. It is a digital identity – a safe, secure and trusted online passport – established and managed by the user. It clears you to do things online that weren’t possible before.”

What can I do with it:
“Think of miiCard as a passport for the Digital World. You can use it to prove your identity when buying products online by signing onto miiCard when prompted. A good example might be if you wanted to open a new bank account online or apply for a new credit card. Until now, you would generally be able to fill out an application online but, when it came to the final step, you would have to print off the forms, sign them and return them, together with proof of identity, to a local branch.”

It’s exactly the same claim as the MyID.is Certified solution, which is already existing…

Now I don’t know how they can certify their users ID, in the FAQ they’re talking about the concept of “Level Of Assurance”, maybe it’s based on peers validation of the users ID, which is definitely not strong enough to allow financial deals to be completed like opening a bank account… The only way to really secure the ID verification is to have a face-to-face ID check like our solution does.
But I guess they might come up with something else as they just announced a strategic relationship with Yodlee Inc., the leading provider of online and mobile personal finance management (PFM) solutions.

So wait and see, in the mean time I wish them good luck

And to all of you, the happiest merry Christmas ever and may 2011 be the most amazing year in your life !
